Solstea

From Arcis Wiki

Solstea is the larger and more prominent of Arcis’s two moons, dominating the night sky and serving as a key astronomical reference across the world. In contrast to the erratic path of its sister moon, Belmea, Solstea follows a stable and predictable orbit around the planet’s toroidal form. This consistency has made Solstea an essential fixture in Arcisian timekeeping, forming the basis for calendars and celestial navigation throughout history.

Worship and Divine Ascendancy

In Arcis’s early history, the first civilization of the Thri-Kreen held deep reverence for Solstea, eventually venerating the moon as a living deity. In keeping with the metaphysical nature of Arcis—where belief and worship can shape reality—this devotion gave rise to true divinity within the moon. As a result, Solstea is not only the dominant celestial body in the night sky but also a divine entity with her own will and an associated Divine Realm.

The Luminara

After the fall of The Silver Reach Empire (Circa 2225 IE), the Thri-Kreen archmage Vrik'shara recovered an artifact called the Luminara from the numinous halls of The Vault of Quirix. This pale orb, once its power was mastered, enabled two way magical travel to the surface of Solstea for the first time in recorded history. Shortly afterward Vrik'shara was assassinated by the elven warlord Eldan'shir, who absconed with the Luminara. The origins of the Luminara and the original intent behind its creation still remain a mystery.

The Black Reach

Sometime around the start of the Toric War, not long after Eldan'shir acquired the Luminara, The Black Reach established a presence on the surface of Solstea. Pursuing a long term goal to complete the Rites of Lunar Conjunction at the behest of Xeosath, they opened the Temple of Kalthiirus, release an ancient horror by the name of Inaerth'Torath, thereby fulfilling the prophecy laid out in the Inaer some two thousand years before by Tifereon (ancestor of Bainphaerün, the Black Reach's leader at the time).
